For those on Podcasting 2.0,
I'm in the process of fundraising the basic cost of registering my own self-hosted node, and I'm looking to raise 50,000 sats. If you are curious on running your own node, see Alby Hub.
Here is a direct donation link or people are welcome to use one of the many clients for mobile, desktop, etc. Either way, thank you for the support.
What does it do?
- Allows listeners on Podcasting 2.0 compatible clients to send funds to the show, using open source technology.
- Allows me to automate sharing funds I receive with other content creators, such as guests and whoever else.
- Podcasting 2.0 is having a positive impact, because it is driving forward technologies like including chapters, transcriptions, and other refinements to audio and video content.
- Once registration is complete, I'll expand the show to include Nostr support (see their Github repo). Nostr is a decentralized social network, which is similar to Secure Scuttlebutt.
- This whole process is open source. Might as well embrace it.
For those thinking this is a very modest goal
I'm a small show, so it is what it is. 😅
I do think it is more interesting to naturally crowd source and see what develops from it.
