Continuation of Dead Tech - What do you still rely on software, hardware, or other?
macOS Tahoe 26, announced in June, is the final to support Intel-based computers made by Apple. Signal messager is officially dropped update support for MacOS Intel as of 12/09/2025. So, what do with the hardware?

What operating systems would you recommend for a 2014 Macbook Air that is otherwise living in a drawer or headed to the trash? Apple values it at $30, so best to bring it back to life! Support for x86 Intel-based systems from Mac is officially at at end. That is in addition to updates being dropped every few years after a product is released, because this is the end of supporting the system architecture over all. Signal is already dropping support as of 12/2025.

Concerns
With only 4gb of soldered ram, it would seem Gnome is probably too much. I'm open to trying it, but what do you think?
