What Linux Prepper is currently using
Web Monetization came up because:
- Supported by Castopod
- Listeners mentioned they exist outside of PayPal, and similar US-based systems, in certain parts of the world. They want to donate, which currently includes Podcasting 2.0 alone. Makes sense to find other open alternatives!
Some of the supported ways to add Web Monetization to social web
- Chimoney - API-based system built on Interledger.
- Lots of people complain about how slow the service is to process requests, which is concerning. See app store reviews on mobile devices.
- Supports payment processors beyond Stripe and Paypal, which reads as nice on paper.
- Interledger Foundation - Open protocol for connecting different payment networks
